Prohibited Occupations

The child labor rules that prohibit employment in certain occupations or industries apply to workers under the age of 18. Please note that there are also restrictions on the hours and time of day youth under 16 can work. Because the rules, particularly the occupations declared to be too hazardous for youth, are quite different for agricultural and non-agricultural employment, they are presented separately.
