Employment Standards Administration (ESA) Freedom of Information Act As of November 1996, the E-FOIA (Electronic Freedom of Information Act Amendments) has required that we provide information to the public making it readily accessible via electronic format. This page will represent our effort to comply with the requirements of this amendment. It is an on-going effort. We are providing both "quick links" to information provided via our homepage menu, as well as information unique to the Reading Room environment. The Freedom of Information Act Department of Labor FOIA Regulations Administers the wage, hour and child labor provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as well as several other programs covering prevailing wages for government contracts and farm labor, family and medical leave, immigration and polygraph testing. Office of Workers' Compensation Programs Administers four major disability compensation programs which provide wage replacement benefits, medical treatment, vocational rehabilitation and other benefits to certain workers or their dependents who experience work-related injury or occupational disease. Division of Federal Employees' Compensation Compensation Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Division of Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Division of Coal Mine Workers' Compensation Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs Administers provisions that prohibit discrimination by federal contractors and subcontractors and require them to take affirmative action to ensure that all individuals have an equal opportunity for employment, without regard to race, sex, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability or status as a Vietnam era or special disabled veteran. The programs apply to certain contractors and subcontractors holding federal or federally assisted contracts. Office of Labor-Management Standards Enforces provisions of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) and related laws which establish basic standards of democracy and fiscal responsibility for unions representing employees in private industry, Federal government employees, and Postal Service employees. OLMS administers provisions relating to electing union officers, safeguarding union funds and assets, establishing and maintaining trusteeships, and reporting and disclosure by unions, employers, labor relations consultants, union officers and employees, and surety companies. OLMS also administers the Secretary of Labor’s statutory responsibilities for the Mass Transit Employee Protection Program under Section 5333(b) of the Federal Mass Transit Act, commonly referred to as the Section 13(c) program.
