Welcome to our Town Hall, the heart of Safety City. It's where you can find out about the people behind the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
What is the NHTSA? It's a large group of engineers, researchers, scientists, and administrators, working to promote safety all over the United States. This includes bike safety, pedestrian safety, car safety and many other areas where safety can be improved. In the Safety City History Gallery, you can find out about the man who invented the first stoplight, Garrett A. Morgan. If you're 18 or older you can find out about Job Opportunities at NHTSA. Check out The Safety News! to find out about cool new places in Safety City.
Every year NHTSA publishes hundreds of pamphlets, reports and studies on how we can prevent injuries in crashes and save lives. For a list of NHTSA publications email us at: Kidspubs@nhtsa.dot.gov. Well, Vince and I have to run over to the Crash Test Lab. Want to find out what happens when people aren't wearing their safety belts in a car crash? Come with us. |
