Research Project: INVASIVE WEED CONTROL ALONG ALASKA RIGHTS OF WAY

Location: Fairbanks, Alaska

2006 Annual Report

4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a non-funded cooperative agreement between ARS and the State of Alaska, Department of Transportation. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent 5341-22000-002-00D Integrated Pest Management Strategies for Alaskan Agriculture.

The objective of this cooperative research project is to determine the relative effectiveness of selected single and combined treatment methods in controlling undesirable vegetation while retaining desirable species, the environmental impact of selected herbicides and application methods, and identifying any problematic species for particular methods. The first year of treatments were applied and vegetation was measured before and after treatments. Soils were collected before and after treatment to measure herbicide fate and movement.
