Research Project:
DEVELOPMENT OF SEMIOCHEMICAL-BASED TRAPPING SYSTEM FOR LONGHORNED BEETLES (LBS)
Location: Invasive Insect Biocontrol and Behavior Laboratory
2007 Annual Report
1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
The objective of this cooperative research project is to develop a semiochemical-based trapping system for Longhorned Beetles (LBS).
1b.Approach (from AD-416)
Research will focus on identification and synthesis of semiochemicals that can lure LBs from long distance.
3.Progress Report
This report serves to document research conducted under a non-funded cooperative agreement between ARS and Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing, China. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent project 1275-22000-234-00D “Chemical Signals for Managing Insects.” This is a joint effort with Nanjing Forest University (NFU) to develop trapping system and provided pheromone of Asian Longhorned Beetle for the infestation monitoring and detection. Due to insufficient funding, the field tests were not conducted in China this year. Scientist responded with NFU through e-mails, phone calls and conference meetings.
