Research Project: RISK ANALYSIS AND ENHANCEMENT OF TRANSGENE STABILITY IN INSECTS FOR BIOLOGICAL CONTROL

Location: Insect Behavior and Biocontrol Research Unit

2004 Annual Report

4.What were the most significant accomplishments this past year?
D. Progress Report

This report serves to document research conducted under a reimburseable agreement between ARS and USDA, NRI-CGP Biotechnology Risk Assessment Program. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent project 6615-22000-016-00D Biologically-based technologies for management of crop insect pests in local and areawide programs. Several transgenic strains have been created that incorporate either the GFP or DsRed fluorescent protein marker into the medfly tsl chromosome used in genetic sexing strains. Tests for strain viability and transgene stability have been initiated.
