Research Project: SURVEY OF THE CARIBBEAN FOR NATURAL ENEMIES OF THE DIAPREPES ROOT WEEVIL

Location: Subtropical Insects Research

2005 Annual Report

4d.Progress report.
This report serves to ducument research conducted under a reimbursable agreement between ARS and the University of Florida. Additional details of the research can be found in the report for the parent CRIS 6618-22000-030-00D. No permanent establishment occurred following releases of one egg parasitoid (Ceratogramma etiennei, Trichogrammatidae) of the Diaprepes root weevil, but good establishment of two other parasitoids (Quadrastichus haitiensis and Aprostocetus vaquitarum (Eulophidae)) appears to have been achieved at least in southern Florida. Recoveries of these two parasitoids in southwestern, southeastern, and central Florida have been erratic, whereas recovery has been continuous in extreme southern Florida. Two new parasitoids species were imported into quarantine from Dominica and are expected to be released during 2006: Fidiobia n. sp (Platygastridae) and Haeckeliania n. sp. (Trichogrammatidae).
