Research Project:
MONITORING FOR POTENTIAL RECESSIVE RESISTANCE IN BOLLWORM/TOBACCO BUDWORM TO PROTEIN TOXINS IN BT COTTON
Location: Southern Insect Management Research Unit
2004 Annual Report
4.What were the most significant accomplishments this past year?
D. Progress Report. This report serves to document research conducted under a Specific Cooperative Agreement between the University of West Georgia and ARS. Additional details for this subordinate project may be found in the in-house parent project 6402-22000-035-00D entitled, "Resistance Monitoring and Resistance Management of Lepidopteran spp. Infesting Bt Cotton." We have worked to develop data on the feasibility of shipping insect artificial diet with Bacillus thuringiensis incorporated and its biological response to field-collected populations of Heliothis virescens and Helicoverpa zea in the state of Georgia. This information serves very well as preliminary results to adopt this technique throughout the cotton belt. Specifics of these findings can be obtained from the 2004 Proceedings of the Beltwide Cotton Conferences.
