based on their principal product or activity, as determined from information on
annual sales volume. Two examples of industries are manufacturing and retail

Employment, Hours, and
Earnings
The Current Employment Statistics survey of payroll records
covers over 390,000 businesses on a monthly basis and provides detailed
industry data on employment, hours, and earnings of workers on nonfarm payrolls
for the nation.
Producer Price Index
The
Producer Price Index program measures the average change over time in the
selling prices received by domestic producers for their output.
Compensation Cost
Trends
Quarterly indexes measuring change over time in labor costs and
annual data measuring level of average costs per hour worked (ECEC).
Productivity and
Costs
Output per hour and unit labor costs for U.S. business sector,
nonfarm business sector, and manufacturing sector. In addition, output per hour
and unit labor costs are available for specific industries.
Career Guide to
Industries
The Career Guide to Industries provides information on
available careers by industry, including the nature of the industry, working
conditions, employment, occupations in the industry, training and advancement,
earnings and benefits, employment outlook, and lists of organizations that can
provide additional information.
