Research Project: MINOR USE PESTICIDES UMBRELLA PROJECT Project Number: 0500-00007-001-00
Project Type: Appropriated

Start Date: Oct 01, 2007
End Date: Sep 30, 2012

Objective:
To support the development of data to registor minor use pesticides in cooperation with the state IR-4 program.

Approach:
Pesticide clearance needs are gathered on a continuing basis throughout the year and submitted to the IR-4 headquarters. These needs are then reviewed at the fall meetings, one held in each region by the States in which ARS participates and one held by ARS Liaison Representatives to the IR-4 program. In December a national meeting is held between the States and ARS to make the final selection of projects to be funded for the coming year. The potential ARS projects are then reviewed by an NPS committee (Minor Use Pesticide Committee) which recommends the allocation of funding for each of the laboratories that has the expertise to conduct research to obtain the data. The funds are allocated for 1-3 years basis depending on the need for data requirements. Individual projects are documented separately in CRIS.
