Research Project: INTEGRATED BMP'S FOR COTTON PRODUCTION TO MEET TMDL STANDARDS FOR WATER QUALITY

Location: Southern Weed Science Research

2004 Annual Report

4.What were the most significant accomplishments this past year?
This report serves to document research conducted under a Specific Cooperative Agreement between ARS and Mississippi Agricultural Forestry Experiment Station. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent CRIS 6402-12220-002-00D, Sustainability of Soil Resources in Weed and Crop Management Systems in Mid South Agriculture. Fiscal Year 2004, was the first actual year of establishment of the 21 large-scale runoff plots. For critical assessment to begin, this project requires long-term establishment of certain components of treatments such as no-tillage, and buffer filter plots. Instrumentation of flow and water sampling devices have been installed in all plots.

It is anticipated that no actual results will be available from this project for another three to four years.
