Question: What is the current number of women-owned businesses in the United States?

Answer: According to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, there were 6.5 million women-owned businesses in the U.S. in 2002. For further statistical information, view the 2002 Survey of Business Owners (SBO), or contact the Census Bureau, Minority and Women Businesses Section at 301-763-3316.
