Objective:
To develop natural enemies for biological control of giant reed, Arundo donax, from the western Mediterranean region for possible release in the U.S.

Approach:
Survey for, collect and identify natural enemies of giant reed in the Mediterranean region with a focus on Spain, France. Conduct studies on the impact of natural enemis at selected research sites using chemical exlusion methods. Collaborate the European specialists in identifying important insect groups. Ship most important natural enemies to U.S. quarantine for further evaluation; petition for release of most promising species.
