Research Project: MAPPING AND MOLECULR ANALYSIS OF THE COCOA (THEOBROMA CACAO) GENOME Project Number: 0500-00008-001-28
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 01, 2003
End Date: Jun 30, 2008

Objective:
To pursue the creation of a common molecular/genetic cocoa data base through the provision of technical support and analytical capabilities.

Approach:
Provide bioinformatics support to the common cocoa database, maintained by CIRAD and the University of Readig, including an improved query capability leading to automatic comparison of specific DNA seuqences. Coordinate U.S. response to the common database, and provide cDNA libraries on at least the following: Flowers, induced tissue culture, disease challenged tissue, herbicide treated tissues; BAC libraries and filter, sets, as they are available. Continue to support, the consutrction of BAC libraries and microsatellites.
