Research

The U.S. Department of Transportation brings a unique transportation perspective to federal climate change research. Research, conducted through the Center for Climate Change and Environmental Forecasting, is focused in four primary areas: understanding the impacts of climate change on transportation, finding and evaluating policy options to increase energy efficiency and reduce transportation-related emissions of greenhouse gases, developing greater modeling expertise, and building institutional capacity.

Partnership Activities

DOT engages in climate change related activities with a variety of agencies and organizations. Activities include participation in national and international research and policy forums, interagency research initiatives and policy implementations, and Center research sponsored in collaboration with other federal agencies.

Events

An important part of the Center's efforts are the sponsorship of conferences and other events that further the Center's research or its mission to build awareness and capacity in this field.
