answer icon For most end users, "authentication" is not any different from "sign-on" except that E-Authentication may accept other forms of authentication besides username and password. Authentication defines the level of assurance or trustworthiness of the parties involved in a transaction - it is the process of determining the certainty that someone really is who they claim to be.
