PHMSA, in coordination with a planning group of representatives from NAPSR, AGA, INGAA, APGA, API, and NACE, will facilitate a Public Meeting/Workshop on Cased Pipelines Integrity Assessment at the Sheraton Gateway Suites O’Hare in Rosemont, IL.  The focus of the workshop will be on operators, trades and others bringing information to the table to address concerns with successfully using External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) to assess casings in High Consequence Areas (HCAs).  Long term issues, including the merits of casings in general and whether they’re still needed in some/all applications with newer pipe materials now in existence, will also be discussed.  The goal at the end of workshop will be to develop a list of potential solutions that can address the issues through changes to regulations, standards, operating practices and/or research. The list will then be taken back to PHMSA for further consideration on which solutions can be addressed and when.  The meeting will not be webcast, but presentations, breakout session reports-out, and a summary of the workshop results will be posted to the meeting website following the workshop.
