    American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) Threshold Limit Value (TLV): 10 mg/m3 TWA; The value is for particulate matter containing no asbestos and <1% crystalline silica. (TLV listed under Calcium Carbonate)

    National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Recommended Exposure Limit (REL): 10 mg/m3 TWA
Health Factors
    Potential symptoms: Irritation of eyes, skin, mucous membranes, upper respiratory system; cough, sneezing, rhinorrhea (discharge of thin mucous); lacrimation (discharge of tears).

    Health Effects: Nuisance particulates accumulation in lungs (HE19)

    Affected organs: Eyes, skin, respiratory system

    Note: A recent report on marble quarrying in Italy stated that "workers, particularly older ones, are affected by chronic obstructive respiratory diseases," but did not provide any data or citations to the literature.
