    The Department of Commerce (DOC) has submitted to the Office of 
Management and Budget (OMB) for clearance the following proposal for 
collection of information under the provisions of the Paperwork 
Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35).
    Agency: National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
    Title: Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Client Impact 
Survey.
    Form Number(s): None.
    OMB Approval Number: 0693-0021.
    Type of Request: Regular submission.
    Burden Hours: 1,083.
    Number of Respondents: 6,500.
    Average Hours Per Response: 10 minutes.
    Needs and Uses: The Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), 
sponsored by NIST, is a national network of locally based manufacturing 
extension centers working with small manufacturers to help them improve 
their productivity, improve profitability and enhance their economic 
competitiveness. The collection of information from clients about the 
impact of MEP services is essential for NIST officials to evaluate 
program strengths and weaknesses and plan improvements in program 
effectiveness and efficiency. This information is not available from 
existing programs or other sources.
    Affected Public: Business or other for-profit organizations.
    Frequency: Annually.
    Respondent's Obligation: Voluntary.
