Awards and Scholarships

The National Organization for Human Services annually considers nominees for eight awards/scholarships. The Professional Development Committee takes nominations until May 1 of each year, and decisions are made by June 15. The awards and scholarships are announced at the annual national conference. The winner of the David C. Maloney Scholarship is notified as soon as possible so that the scholarship funds can be implemented. Individuals and organizations may nominate themselves or be nominated by others. It is possible that not all awards will be given annually if the committee determines that there are no nominees who meet the criteria for particular awards.

Howard Harris Professional Award

Deadline: May 1 of each year

Background: This award honors Howard S. Harris' contributions to the field of human services with the Howard Harris Professional Award. Royalties from the textbook, Human Services: Contemporary Issues and Trends, published by Peerson Publications provide a cash prize that accompanies the award.
