Airport Hotel in Bloomington, Minn., Pays $45,000 In Back Overtime WagesBLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The investigation by the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division found violations of the overtime pay provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) during a two-year period beginning in June 2004. Specifically, the department found that the business did not combine workers’ hours during weeks that employees worked in different units of the hotel, such as the restaurant and fitness center. “The Department of Labor is committed to ensuring that workers are paid in accordance with the law and for all hours worked,” said Jose L. Medina, district director of the Wage and Hour Division office in Minneapolis. The FLSA requires payment of the minimum wage and of overtime at time and one-half an employee’s regular rate of pay for all hours worked in excess of 40 per week.
