Research Project: STUDIES OF PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF SOY BASED HYDROGELS

Location: Food and Industrial Oil Research

Project Number: 3620-41000-117-04
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 31, 2005
End Date: Aug 31, 2008

Objective:
To study the physicochemical and biological properties of soybased hydrogels of various molecular weights and substitution degrees in relation to drug delivery.

Approach:
UV-Vis spectrophotometry and photon correlation spectroscopy will be employed to determine micellization of the soybased hydrogels at various concentrations and temperatures. The interfacial properties of the hydrogels will be measured by a goniometer and a tensiometer. The interaction of the hydrogels with biologically active agents will be studied using spectrophotometry, FTIR and HPLC.
