During the past three years, audits and inspections were conducted at the facility. In April of 2005 a corporate Environmental, Health, Safety and Tranaportation audit was conducted by corporate auditors for facility compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements. In each of the successive years, internal audits were conducted of the Environmental Management System (EMS) utilizing Performance Track protocol. Most recently, an Independent Assessment of the EMS was conducted for PT recertification compliance. An overall facility inspection is conducted quarterly, while departmental inspections are conducted monthly.

SECTION C: ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS

Goal 1: Schering-Plough Animal Health Corporation - Baton Rouge's first goal is to reduce the facility's total (non-transportation) energy use.

Electrical energy consumption for the site has decreased for a third year. The decrease is due in part to a decrease in productivity. However, during the reporting period, the site continued to limit HVAC usage to the hours that the facility is occupied. The site also installed flexible roll-up doors in conjunction with the existing metal doors. The flexible doors are motorized and equipped with timers, only allowing the doors to remain open for a specified time. As a result of these efforts, energy consumption in the production building was reduced to 1,141,200 KWH compared to 1,563,800 KWH in the the baseline year of 2004, a reduction of 27%. Overall, the site has reduced its energy consumption in 2007 by 18% compared to the year 2006.

Electrical energy consumption for the site has decreased for a second year. The reduction in 2006 was realized eventhough there was an increase in production activity at the site. During the reporting period the site continued to limit HVAC to the hours that the facility is occupied. As a result, energy consumption in the production building was reduced to 1,400,125 KWH compared to consumption of 1,563,800 KWH in the baseline year of 2004. Overall, the site has reduced its energy consumption in 2006 by over 6 % when compared to the baseline year of 2004.
The site recognized an opportunity to reduce the facility's energy use by controlling HVAC dedicated to comfort cooling. Time clocks were installed to limit HVAC to the hours that the facility is occupied. The project was installed in June, 2005 with a goal to reduce energy consumption in Q3, Q4 2005, by 50,000 KWH when compared to the same period of 2004, the baseline year. Although the total electrical energy purchased in 2005 was 33,072 KWH more than the base line year of 2004, the results of the energy conservation project became apparent in the second half of 2005. At the production building the electrical consumption for the second half of the year was 932,000 KWH in 2005 versus 1,084,600 KWH for the same period in 2004. As a whole in the second half of 2005, the site consumed 1,381,016 KWH, a reduction of 206,688 KWH. This exceeded the goal of a 50,000 KWH reduction for the second half of 2005. The table in C.1.b shows the total electrical energy purchased for production operations.

Electrical energy usage for the entire site is collected on a monthly basis from the actual utility bill. The information is maintained in a spreadsheet format and tabulated monthly and at year's end. Timers installed at the HVAC system, operates automatically to turn-off the HVAC system during the non usage hours.

The goal is normalized and indexed to the level of business in the baseline year. In 2004, a total of 11865,000 units were shipped, representing 2,107,244 pounds of product.

Goal 2: Schering-Plough Animal Health Corporation - Baton Rouge's second goal is to reduce the generation of, and improve the management of, the facility's non-hazardous waste.

During the reporting period, the site increased damaged and obsolete (D&O) goods disposal by 13% compared to the baseline year. The increase is due to disposal of off-specification product. Eventhough, there is in an increase in D&O during the reporting year, the affected waste stream for waste incineration is 23 % less than the baseline year. The site recorded a substantial increase in recycling when it included empty metal drums in the total recycling count. In the previous year this amount was not included.

The site experienced challenges in managing its recycling capabilities due to a change in its vendor. During the reporting period the regular vendor discountinued their recyling operations for cardboard material. In January 2007, the site procured the services of a cardboard recycler. To date the vendor has shipped nearly eight tons of cardboard material from the site which had acummulated over the reporting period.

The site continues to reduce its disposal of damaged and obsolete (D&O) goods. D&O goods disposal was reduced 89 percent during the reporting period. The goal was once again accomplished due to overall consistent operational practices.
This improvement was achieved inpart by the site reducing its disposal of damaged and obselete (D&O) goods by 25 %. The goal was accomplished due to overall source reduction in disposal and better operational practices. The facility was also successful in educating its employees in proper waste segregation practices, thereby increasing its recycling efforts to reduce overall landfill disposal of waste.

The D&O data is first generated at the site's Shipping Department where materials are first declared to be a waste. Records are then sent to the Finance Department where cost and weights of each material are correlated. The data is sent to the site's Environmental Engineer who maintains a record for waste disposal. All other reported waste includes all of the sites waste streams. The site measures these waste streams by reviewing Waste Summary reports provided by the disposal company, manifest and other in-house recordkeeping methods.

SECTION D: PUBLIC OUTREACH AND PERFORMANCE REPORTING

The facility follows a written Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) "Receiving, Documenting, and Responding to Releveant Communication from External Interested Parties and Establishing Public Outreach and Performance Reporting" to identify potential community environmental concerns. The procedure sets forth the facility's policy for public outreach and performance reporting as it relates to safety, health and environmental management.

A member of senior management made personal contact with the concerned party, documented and adressed the concern.

A copy of the Annual Performance Track Report is maintained at the front desk of the facility's administrative office at North Dual.
