Learn more about Congressional Districts |
These congressional districts represent the districts used to elect the congress and were established by the states based on the result of Census 2000. These boundaries will be in effect until the 113th Congress, January 2013, unless a State initiative or court ordered redistricting requires a change. All states established new congressional districts in 2001, with the exception of the seven states with only one representative, and the State of Maine (which redistricted in the spring of 2003).
The number of representatives apportioned to each State is based on the results of the Census 2000 in accordance with the provisions of Title 2, United States Code, Section 2a. The boundaries and numbers shown for the congressional districts are those specified in the State laws and/or court orders establishing the districts within each State.
