Nontraditional OccupationsThe Women's Bureau is pleased to announce the 2003 Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grantees:Northern New England Tradeswomen, Inc., Essex Junction,
Vermont View brief descriptions of their projects. Purpose/Background The Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) Act of 1992 authorized the WANTO grant program. The Women's Bureau and the Employment and Training Administration's (ETA's) Office of Apprenticeship Training, Employer and Labor Services have jointly administered the program. From 1994 through 2003, the Women's Bureau and ETA awarded over $8.6 million in 81 grants to 37 community-based organizations to provide technical assistance to employers and labor unions to enable them to recruit, hire, train, and retain women in apprenticeships and nontraditional occupations. Notice for 2004 In 2003, the Women's Bureau and ETA awarded the final WANTO grants. No grants will be awarded in 2004. May 2004 |
