Halamid® (Chloramine-T)

Complete the Effectiveness Technical Section for the following claim:

Use Chloramine-T at a concentration of 20 mg/L administered in a flow-through or static bath for 60 min/day on three consecutive days to control mortality caused by external columnaris in all freshwater cool- and warmwater finfish

Anticipated planned studies:

  1. Evaluate the effectiveness of 20 mg/L chloramine-T to control mortality caused by external columnaris in channel catfish Ictalurus punctatus.

  2. Evaluate the effectiveness of 20 mg/L chloramine-T to control mortality caused by external columnaris in striped bass Morone saxatilis.

Note that planned studies will be conducted at the Richloam Fish Hatchery (Florida Bass Conservation Commission, Webster, FL) in cooperation with Michael Matthews.

35% PEROX AID® (hydrogen peroxide)

Complete the Effectiveness Technical Section for the following claim:

Use 35% PEROX-AID® at a concentration of 50 mg/L administered in a static bath for 60 min/day on three alternate days to control mortality caused by external columnaris in all freshwater cool- and warmwater finfish

Anticipated planned study:

  1. Evaluate the effectiveness of 50 mg/L hydrogen peroxide to control mortality caused by external columnaris in largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides

Aquaflor® (florfenicol)

Complete the Effectiveness Technical Section for the following claim:

Use Aquaflor®-medicated feed at a concentration of 10 mg florfenicol/kg fish body weight fed for 10 consecutive days to control mortality caused by columnaris (causative agent, Flavobacterium columnare) in all freshwater-reared salmonids.

Anticipated planned study:

Evaluate the effectiveness of 10 mg florfenicol/kg fish body weight administered in feed fed for 10 consecutive days to control mortality caused by columnaris (causative agent, Flavobacterium columnare) in fingerling rainbow trout.

17-α Methyltestosterone

Compile tilapia hatchery effluent discharge survey information in support of CVM Environmental Assessment requirements.

Work cooperatively with the American Tilapia Association to disseminate survey to all domestic tilapia hatcheries; receive completed surveys, compile survey information and provide raw data and a summary to CVM’s Environmental Team.
