Steps in creating a map
- At www.census.gov, select "American FactFinder" in the left-hand column
- Select "DataSets" in the left-hand column
- Under 2002 Economic Census and Surveys, select "Thematic Maps"
- On the Select Geography page
- Specify "State" as the geographic type
- Select a state from the list Click "Next"
- On the Select Theme page
- Click the "By subect" tab
- Select a sector in the "Select a subject" list
- Click the "Search" button
- Pick one of the 10 themes Click "Show Result"
- On the Thematic Maps page you can
- Zoom and recenter the map
- Change the number of data classes and how they are defined
- Add county boundaries
- Remove the overlay for major interstate highways
- Customize the title
