Commerce Dept. Posts Online Edition of Defense Priorities And Allocations System Booklet

(WASHINGTON) - The Department of Commerce announced today that its newly-revised guide to the Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS) is available free online.

The guide provides information on the DPAS program, which assures timely availability of industrial resources to meet national defense needs and provides a framework for rapid industrial response to a national security emergency. The guide also contains a section of answers to frequently asked questions.

Earlier this year the Department streamlined and updated the DPAS to allow it to operate more efficiently. Those changes were announced in the Federal Register June 11, 1998 (63 FR 31918).

Free, printed copies of the guide, other documents which support DPAS administration and implementation, and various educational and training materials may be obtained from the DPAS Program Manager, Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security - tel: (202) 482-3634, FAX: (202) 482-5650, or by e-mail.

Note:

In April of 2002 the Bureau of Export Administration (BXA) changed its name to the Bureau of Industry and Security(BIS). For historical purposes we have not changed the references to BXA in the legacy documents found in the Archived Press and Public Information.
