Mary A. Ruwwe, PBS Assistant Regional Administrator![]() Mary Ruwwe serves as the Assistant Regional Administrator (ARA) in the Heartland Region's Public Buildings Service (PBS). She leads a workforce of 350 employees responsible for providing superior workplaces for the federal workforce. PBS in the Heartland Region encompasses more than 22 million square feet of real estate in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas. Some of the Heartland's largest customers include federal agencies such as the Judiciary, IRS, SSA, EPA and NARA. PBS manages a wide range of facilities from federally-owned courthouses to leased cave space, and is proud that more than 3 million square feet of its inventory is certified in the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. Ms. Ruwwe has been with GSA for 20 years. After starting her career in GSA's intern program, she has held increasingly complex and responsible leadership positions in facilities management and workforce development in the Kansas City regional office. Ms. Ruwwe has two bachelor's of science degrees - business administration and secondary education - from Peru State College in Peru, Neb. She also has a master's in business administration from Webster University in Kansas City and a Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Facilities Management Administrator designation.
