Nebraska in Focus: Census Bureau Pre-Caucus Snapshot
Nebraska, which is holding a Democratic caucus on Feb. 9 and a Republican primary on May 13, had a 2007 population of 1.8 million that includes a higher percentage of non-Hispanic whites and a lower percentage of blacks and Hispanics than the nation as a whole, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics. About 65 percent of Nebraska’s voting-age citizens cast a ballot in the 2004 general election; the national rate was 64 percent.
