WELCOME TO THE SMALL GRAINS AND POTATO GERMPLASM RESEARCH UNIT

The location’s research programs focus on potato and small grains germplasm improvement and on increasing production efficiency in rainbow trout through the use of grain-based feeds.  This work is accomplished through genetics and breeding research with trout, potato, barley, and oat as well as through 1) maintaining, evaluating, and distributing germplasm stocks, 2) research to improve breeding efficiency and to identify valuable new targets for germplasm enhancement, and 3) research on trout genetics, physiology, and nutrition.
