SECTION C: ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE RESULTS

Goal 1: ETHICON - San Angelo's first goal is to invest in renewable energy sources.
Ethicon San Angelo continues to pursue the opportunity for installation of wind turbines on site to generate 6 to 8 megawatts of renewable energy. In 2007 it was anticipated that construction of the installation would be underway by late 2008 or early 2009. The project has not, however, been presented to corporate yet and while the project is still on track, start of construction has been pushed back at least a year to late 2009.

An 80 meter weather tower was installed to gather weather data for the project proposal with data collection completed earlier this year. The weather data as well as finances are currently being evaluated and final project submittal to JnJ is expected within the next few months.
Electricity and natural gas energy usage in measured from metering.
ETHICON Corporation purchases RECs and allocates them to the various facilities. This is not a facility level activity.

Goal 2: ETHICON - San Angelo's second goal is to reduce the facility's total water use.
Water conservation efforts centered around outside irrigation have reduced water usage for 2007 approximately 10% against 2006 baseline.
This reduction was achieved through continuing implementation of xerascaping to replace water demanding shrubs and ornamental horticulture with drought tolerant landscaping as well as decreasing the water used for irrigation in 2007.

Actual consumption numbers, as metered, are electronically collected daily and reported monthly for the four mains supplying the facility. This data is then used to evaluate and focus water conservation efforts and activities.

Goal 3: ETHICON - San Angelo's third goal is to reduce the generation of, and improve the management of, the facility's non-hazardous waste.
Recycling opportunities continue to be pursued. Ethicon San Angelo is currently in conversations with a vendor to recycle/reclaim all landfill waste by the end of 2008. However, recent financial issues have caused this date to be pushed back to 2009.
Nonhazardous waste generation has increased from 1,074.23 tons in 2006 to 1132.87 tons in 2007, a 58.64 ton/year increase or a 5.5% increase. I have no additional information about this increase at this time.

Landfill waste tonnage as weighed at the landfill scales are provided by the landfill operator, Trashaway, to the facility on a monthly basis in units of tons. Tonnage numbers for recycleable materials, by stream, are provided by the recycle vendor to the facility on a monthly basis.

As of 6/10/2008, the total nonhazardous waste in 2006 was changed from 1,074.23 tons to 1,038.75 tons because of a reporting error.

In the table below, please provide a narrative summary of progress made toward EMS objectives and targets other than those reported as Environmental Performance Goals. You may limit the summary to environmental aspects that are significant and towards which progress has been made during the reporting year.

Do you have additional environmental aspects to report?   No

SECTION D: PUBLIC OUTREACH AND PERFORMANCE REPORTING

Ethicon, in it's capacity as a member of the community, strives to be involved in community activities at both a company and personal level. As such, potential community environmental concerns which have been identified and are not associated with Ethicon activities primarily include river cleanup and waste management issues.
Members of facility management sit on various city boards. For the issues of river clean up and waste management, members of management sit on the Keep San Angelo Beautiful (KSAB) city board. Additionally the facility supports community activities including Earth Day, and other city activities.

No environmental community concerns identified.

Information is available on the company website, www.ethicon.com and on the Johnson and Johnson website, www.jnj.com
