Due to the nature of ETHICON's supply chain, raw material use data for four ETHICON's US facilties (Somerville, NJ; San Angelo, TX; San Lorenzo, PA; and Cornelia, GA) is shown on ETHICON Somerville New Jersey's Performance Track report. Improvements for this aspect in San Angelo, TX were gained by the following: Reductions in coating solution use.

Reductions in solid waste since the year 2000 have been achieved as the result of reductions in scrubber regeneration rates and reductions in print shop scrap. The facility strives to maintain its achievements and continuosly improve.

SECTION D: PUBLIC OUTREACH AND PERFORMANCE REPORTING




D.1Please briefly describe the activities that your facility conducted during the year to interact with the community on environmental issues and to report publicly on environmental performance.

Managers from the plant sit on various community boards. The Plant Manager sits on the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Board. Environmental professionals participate in the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). Earth Day is celebrated each year to promote environmental awareness. A local elementary school actively participates in the Earth Day event.
