Mission:
The Southwest Watershed Research's mission is to understand the effects of changing climate, land use, and management practices on the hydrologic cycle, soil erosion processes, watershed resources, and to develop prototype decision support systems for natural resource models. They also conduct integrated systems research for the development of new technology to predict and assess the condition and sustainability of agricultural watersheds and for development of decision support systems for natural resource models. Research is conducted to extend scientific findings beyond gaged experimental watersheds and to facilitate technology transfer of research data, interpretations, natural resource models, and decision support systems. The Carl Hayden Bee Research Center's mission is to advance the productivity of agriculture by conducting basic and applied research aimed at optimizing crop yields through application of improved pollinator systems. Where pollination is being impacted by environmental change, such as the incursion of parasitic mites, pests, or disease, or theprocess of africanization of honey bee colonies, research emphasis is placed on sustaining the pollination of crop and non-crop plants. This research contributes to preservation of the environment.
