Census Bureau Director to Give Special Recognition Award
to Illinois and Missouri Partners
States use innovative Census Bureau program for local labor market profiles of cross- state commuting, military base realignment and tornado damage assessment
- What:
- U.S. Census Bureau Director Louis Kincannon presents a Special Recognition Award to Illinois and Missouri officials for their sharing of cross-state labor market and commuting data from the federal/state Local Employment Dynamics (LED) program. Understanding the nature of the cross-state labor market patterns is helpful in economic and workforce development. The LED program has also been helpful in analyzing the economic impact of the proposed new Mississippi River Bridge and military base realignment.
- Illinois and Missouri will also be recognized for their innovative use of the LED "On the Map" program in disaster assessment. Both states have recently used the "On the Map" program to study the types of businesses and information about the workforce displaced by tornadoes that struck the region.
