Statement of Acting Census Bureau Director William Barron
Regarding The Death of Two Census Bureau Employees Sept. 11

Along with all Census Bureau employees, I am deeply shocked and
saddened by the tragic death of two Census Bureau employees who were
killed during Tuesday's terrorist attacks. Marion Britton,
assistant regional director, and Waleska Martinez, automation specialist,
both assigned to our New York regional office, were passengers on the
plane that crashed outside of Pittsburgh, Pa. They were both on official
travel enroute to an agency meeting.

Our hearts go out to their families and friends as well as to their
co-workers. This is truly a sad time for the Census family.
