Rhode Island in Focus: Census Bureau Pre-Primary Snapshot
Rhode Island, which is holding its presidential primaries on March 4, had a 2007 population of 1.1 million. The state has a higher percentage of people with a bachelor’s degree or more and a higher median household income than the nation as a whole. About 64 percent of Rhode Island’s voting-age citizens cast a ballot in the 2004 general election, not statistically different from the national rate.
These and other statistics about Rhode Island’s population on topics ranging from language spoken to commute times can be found in the American FactFinder section of the Census Bureau Web site <http://factfinder.census.gov/>.
