                  **CENSUS BUREAU MEDIA ADVISORY**

Census Bureau to Brief Reporters on
Local Census 2000 Supplementary Survey Results

What: The Census Bureau's Chicago Regional Office will brief media on new
Census 2000 Supplementary Survey (C2SS) data on demographic,
economic, social and housing characteristics for cities and
counties of 250,000 population or more. These data, including those
for the Fort Wayne, Ind., Metropolitan Statistical Area, will
illustrate characteristics, such as education, language spoken at
home, household income, poverty and travel time to work. The
700,000-household survey was conducted simultaneously with last
year's census and was designed to test the operational feasibility
of collecting long form-type data independently of a decennial
       census.

When: Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. EST

Who: Stanley D. Moore, Chicago regional director
Alan R. Tupek, Demographic Statistical Methods Division chief
       U.S. Census Bureau

Where: Fort Wayne City Hall
       Omni Room
       1 Main Street
       Fort Wayne, Ind.
