      Census Director Updates Media on Census 2000 Operations
                                
   Census Bureau Director Kenneth Prewitt will hold a news briefing on
Monday, Feb. 28, at 11:00 a.m. EST, on the status of Census 2000
operations, including questionnaire delivery in rural areas and mailing of
the advance letter to millions of homes in early March.
   
   He also will discuss the How America Knows What America Needs program,
the Census 2000 road tour and preparations for mailing the remaining
questionnaires in mid-March.
