                     Census Bureau Director to Launch Census 2000
                                Enumerator Training
                                
  Census Bureau Director Kenneth Prewitt will kick off enumerator training
for Census 2000 non-response follow-up at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in
Falls Church, Va., on Monday, April 24, at 9:00 a.m. EDT.

  A photo opportunity and question-and-answer period for the news media
will follow from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. EDT.

  More than half a million temporary workers are being hired for the
non-response follow-up phase of the census. They will undergo either three
days or five evenings of enumerator training, whichever is more
convenient.

  (Editor's note: The director will hold another in his series of
operational press briefings at the National Press Club on Tuesday, April
