US Census Bureau News Release

June 27, 2002 CB02-MC.02

Attention -- Note to correspondents on release of Summary File 3 data for Vermont:

During the ongoing final review of Summary File 3 data for some of the early states, the Census Bureau uncovered some anomalies in at least three tables that might affect some geographic levels in the Vermont file. This file was released on an embargoed basis on June 25 for public release June 28. As a result, we are re-reviewing all of the tables in that file and we have postponed the official release of the entire file until July 10. The tables that we know have problems are:

* Medians for selected monthly owner costs, and
* Medians for selected monthly owner costs as a percent of income in 1999.

We now plan to put the new file for Vermont on the embargo page on July 3. The Census Bureau is committed to publishing, in a timely way, the most comprehensive and accurate Census 2000 data possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may cause.

This delay does not affect our previously announced plan to release data on July 17 with an embargo period beginning on July 11.

If you have any questions, contact Mark Tolbert III on 301-457-3691 (e-mail: Mark.Tolbert.III@census.gov).
