             Big Increase in California Home Values
                                
      Officials Unveil American Community Survey Results 
on Housing, Income, Transportation and Education for Californians

What:  Under Secretary of Commerce Kathleen Cooper will join state
       officials for a news conference releasing new Census Bureau figures 
       showing California home values are nearly double the national 
       median of $127,000 increasing nearly $18,000 in a 12-month period.  
       San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose led the nation's cities with 
       some of the highest median housing values. Officials also will 
       release data showing where the state and other California cities 
       rank nationally on income, commute times, education and language 
       spoken at home.
