Alaska in Focus: Census Bureau Pre-Caucus Snapshot
As one of the 24 states holding “Super Tuesday” presidential primary and caucus sites on Feb. 5, Alaska’s 2007 population of about 680,000 has a lower poverty rate and higher median household income than the nation as a whole, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics.
About 68 percent of Alaska’s voting-age citizens cast a ballot in the 2004 general election, slightly above the national rate of 64 percent.
