Type of Request: Extension of a currently approved collection. Burden: 2,500 hours. Number of Respondents: 10,000. Avg. Hours Per Response: 15 minutes. Needs and Uses: An international system exists to use satellites to detect and locate ships, aircraft, or individuals in distress if they are equipped with an emergency radio beacon. Persons purchasing such a beacon must register it with NOAA. The data provided in the registration assists in identifying who is in trouble and also suppressings false alarms. Affected Public: Businesses or other for-profit organizations, individuals, not for profit institutions, federal government, state, local or tribal government. Frequency: On occasion.
