Comments are encouraged and will be accepted until February 16, 1999. Request written comments and suggestions from the public and affected agencies concerning the proposed collection of information. Your comments should address the following points: (1) Does the proposed information collection instrument include all relevant program performance measures? (2) Does the proposed information to be collected have practical utility? (3) Does the proposed information to be collected enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and (4) minimize the burden of the collection of information on those who are to respond, including through the use of appropriate automated, electronic, mechanical, or other technological collection techniques or other forms of information technology, e.g., permitting electronic submission of responses. Reinstatement, with no change, of a previously approved collection for which approval has expired. (2) The title of the form/collection. Victims of Crime Act, Victim Assistance Grant Program, Performance Report. (3) The agency form number if any, and the applicable component of the Department sponsoring the collection. Primary: State government Other: None (5) An estimated total of the number of respondents and the amount of time estimated for an average respondent to respond. The information to compile these reports will be drawn from victim assistance program data to the 57 respondents (grantees). The number of victim assistance vary widely from state to state. A state could be responsible for compiling subgrant data for as many as 186 programs (Texas) to as few as four programs (Guam). Therefore, the estimated clerical hours can range from 1 to 70 hours. (6) An estimate of the total burden (in hours) associated with the collection: The current estimated burden is 1,197 (20 hours per respondent (estimated median) + 1 hour per respondent for recordkeeping x 57 respondents = 1,197 hours).
