2010 Census
Census Bureau Submits Questions to Congress — The questions on the 2010 Census will include name, age, gender, race, ethnicity, relationship and whether you own or rent your home. The submission also outlines the questions for the American Community Survey, including three new questions on health insurance coverage, marital history and military disability. More information will be available at <http://www.census.gov/2010census/>.
Grand Openings for Regional Census Centers — The Census Bureau will mark the two-year countdown to the 2010 Census with the grand opening of its Detroit and Los Angeles regional census centers. The Detroit event will be March 31, and the Los Angeles event will be April 4. The list of dignitaries expected at the events, as well as other information, will be available at <http://www.census.gov/2010census/>.
Demographic
Profiles of Older Workers: 2004 — The Census Bureau, in partnership with 31 states, has launched a series of reports on workers 55 and older. Colorado and Wisconsin are scheduled to be released on March 31. Previously released reports on Arkansas, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Maine and Vermont are available at <http://lehd.did.census.gov/led/library/profiles_2007.html>.
Pennsylvania in Focus: Census Bureau Pre-Primary Snapshot — A look at the population, selected characteristics and 2004 voting percentage of the state as it approaches its 2008 primary. (Tentatively scheduled for release in mid-April).
Puerto Rico Community Survey: 2006 — An analysis of the social, economic and housing characteristics data from the 2006 Puerto Rico Community Survey. (Tentatively scheduled for release in early April).
Economic
Pollution Abatement Costs and Expenditures: 2005 — This report shows detailed statistics on capital expenditures and operating costs for pollution prevention and pollution treatment for the manufacturing sector. These data are available by cost category (treatment/capture, prevention, disposal and recycling) and the media (air, water discharge and solid waste), both by state and industry. (Tentatively scheduled for release in early April.)
Consolidated Federal Funds Report: 2006 — This annual data set provides an overview of federal spending at the national, state and county levels. The data are obtained from federal government agencies and describe spending for procurement contracts, salaries and wages, direct payments, loans and insurance. (Scheduled for release on April 23.)
Net Worth and the Assets of Households: 2002 — Income and net worth are two important factors in determining economic well-being in the United States. This report looks at net worth and asset ownership by various socioeconomic factors, including monthly income. The data come from the Survey of Income and Program Participation. (Tentatively set for release in late April.)
Public Education Finances: 2006 — This report offers a comprehensive look at school district revenues and expenditures. Highlights include spending on salaries, construction, support services, administration and transportation. It allows users to examine per pupil expenditures and compare funding sources for public education by state. (Tentatively scheduled for release April 1.)

Father's Day (June 15) — The Census Bureau honors “dear old dad” with a collection of statistical information from its demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to Father’s Day. (Scheduled for release April 17).

Demographic
2007 Metropolitan and Micropolitan Area Population Estimates — March 27 — Dallas-Fort Worth had the largest numeric gain of any metro area between 2006 and 2007, increasing by 162,250. These Internet tables show population estimates and rankings of change in the nation’s metro and micro areas between April 1, 2000, and July 1, 2007. Older Americans 2008: Key Indicators of Well-Being — March 27 — Average life expectancy continues to increase, and today’s older Americans enjoy better health and financial security than any previous generation. These and other trends about the well-being of Americans primarily age 65 and older are in this report, which is a unique, comprehensive look at aging in the United States from the Federal Interagency Forum on Aging-Related Statistics. The forum is a consortium representing 15 agencies with responsibilities for federal data collection or aging programs, including the Census Bureau. The indicators are categorized into five broad areas: population, economics, health status, health risks and behaviors and health care. County and Puerto Rico Municipio Population Estimates: July 1, 2007 — March 20 — St. Bernard and Orleans, two Louisiana parishes hit hard by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, were the nation’s fastest-growing counties in 2007. This and information on other counties and municipios is available in Internet tables showing population estimates, rankings and components of change for the nation’s counties and county equivalents since Census 2000 and up to July 1, 2007. New History Web Site — The Census Bureau has a new Internet site dedicated to the history of census taking in the United States since 1790. The site contains information about the decennial and economic censuses, surveys, the agency, innovations and notable Census Bureau alumni. Additional links allow visitors to browse decade-by-decade historical facts and pop culture items related to the censuses, including photographs, publications and historical documents.
