Demographics

Demographic Surveys

Educational Attainment and School Enrollment: 2000 — These detailed tables — about 1,200 in all — provide data in greater detail than other Census 2000 products. Tables for 15 race groups and each of the states cover subjects that include the education of native- and foreign-born residents by age, education by labor force status, earnings by education level, school enrollment by age and characteristics of adults enrolled in school. (Scheduled for release Oct. 19)

Current Population Survey Design and Methodology (Technical Paper No. 66) — The CPS — sponsored jointly by the Census Bureau and Bureau of Labor Statistics — is the country’s primary source of labor force statistics. This document describes changes made to the survey since 2000. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-October.)

2006 State and Metropolitan Area Data Book — Features more than 1,500 data items for the United States and individual states, counties and metropolitan areas from a variety of sources. Topics include age, agriculture, births, business establishments, communications, construction, cost of living, crime, deaths, education, elections, employment, energy, finance, government, health and households. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-October.)

America Speaks: A Demographic Profile of Foreign-Language Speakers for the United States: 2000 — National- and state-level data on who speaks English and does not, broken down by type of household, age of householder, education attainment and income. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-October.)

Broadcast/Photo/Multimedia/Television

Radio

Profile America and Al Dia (Spanish) for September/October — Upcoming segments include “National Pizza Month” (Oct. 25) and “The New York Marathon” (Nov. 16). The entire set of October daily features will go live Oct. 31 at: <http://www.census.gov/pubinfo/www/broadcast/radio/index.html>.

Also upcoming is a new feature on the Profile America CDs: generic, “durable” November features which can be programmed any time in November with reference to the day and date.

These revised versions are ideal for our subscribers — or those subscribers’ sister stations — that only randomly or intermittently program public service announcements.

The URL for the daily or monthly mp3 downloads is the same for the page you use to establish subscription podcast access:
<http://www.census.gov/pubinfo/www/broadcast/radio/profile_america/index.html>. This is where the proposed wav files will appear, as well.

Profile America and Al Dia daily features can all be auditioned and downloaded individually and — newly available — by the entire month via zip files at <http://www.census.gov/pubinfo/www/broadcast/radio/index.html>.
