Upcoming

Demographics

Demographic Surveys

Financing the Future: 2001–2002 — The number of dollars going to scholars is the focus of these tabulations. They provide data on the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of college students and the costs and financing associated with their schooling during the 2001-2002 academic year. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)

Current Population Survey Data Collection Announcement — In August, Census Bureau field representatives will visit approximately 90,000 randomly selected households nationwide for the Current Population Survey’s update of employment data. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)

Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2003 — This report shows national-level 10-year trends of child-support income received by parents for children whose other parent lives elsewhere. It also examines other types of support received for the children, such as health insurance and noncash assistance. (Tentatively scheduled for release early-August.)

American Community Survey

Media Advisory: American Community Survey (ACS) 2005 Data Release — Provides information to the media about the Aug.15 release of 2005 ACS social and demographic data — including a prerelease online seminar providing guidance on accessing the new data. (Tentatively scheduled for release early-August.)

Estimates and Projections

State and County Population Estimates by Age, Sex, Race and Hispanic Origin: July 1, 2005 — Last year, Texas joined three other states and the District of Columbia in having a majority of its population consisting of minorities. Demographic shifts are likely to continue when population estimates are released by characteristics for the nation’s states and 3,141 counties. (Tentatively scheduled for release early-August.)

2005 State and County Housing Unit Estimates — Last year, Georgia and Florida dominated the list of 10 counties with the fastest housing gains. Updated estimates of the nation’s housing stock at the national, state and county levels for 2005 will show whether this pattern continues. (Tentatively scheduled for release early-August.)

Economics

Economic Surveys

Nonemployer Statistics: 2004 — Summarizes the number of establishments and sales or receipts of businesses without paid employees that are subject to federal income tax. Most nonemployers possess small unincorporated businesses, which may or may not be the owner’s principal source of income. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)

Facts for Features

Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15–Oct. 15) — In celebration of the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spanish-speaking nations, the Census Bureau presents data from its demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to the nation’s Hispanic population. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)

Unmarried and Single Americans Week (Sept. 17–23) — The third full week of September is dedicated to the approximately 90 million unattached Americans. The Census Bureau presents statistics about this group, comprising about 41 percent of all U.S. residents age 18 and older. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)

Special Edition: 300 Million — To commemorate the expected historic milestone of the nation's population reaching 300 million later this year, this collection of statistics compares life today to 1967, when the population reached 200 million, and to 1915, when it reached 100 million. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-July.)
