Survey-Related

Fertility of American Women: June 2004 — Profiles current fertility patterns of American women by age, race, ethnicity, education, marital status, income and nativity. Also contains labor force participation data by fertility status. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2006 — Latest edition of the national data book, a perennial government best-seller, published since 1878. This edition introduces 80 new tables, including several from the American Community Survey. In recognition of this being the 125th edition, historical tables are included at the beginning of each section to highlight related data first appearing in earlier editions. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

Consumer Expenditure Survey — Data about how much Americans spend on groceries, clothing, health care and housing will be collected in January from a sample of randomly selected households across the country as part of the Consumer Expenditure Survey. (This announcement is tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

National, State and Puerto Rico Population Estimates: 2005 — Nevada has been the nation’s fastest-growing state for 18 years running. Will the Silver State extend its streak to 19 in a row? Internet tables showing July 1, 2005, population estimates and components of change for the nation, states and Puerto Rico will reveal the answer. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

2002 Economic Census: Subject Series — Fifty-seven reports for several industry sectors — all at the national level — are now being issued on a flow basis. These reports include information such as product shipments by contributing industries. All 883 geographic area series reports and 651 industry reports have been published. Available at <http://www.census.gov/econ/census02/>.

Survey-Related

2004 Service Annual Survey: Securities, Commodities and Other Financial Investments (NAICS 52) — Tabulations contain revenues for securities and commodity underwriters, dealers and brokers, and other financial industries. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

2004 Service Annual Survey: Information Sector Services (NAICS 51) — Estimated revenue data for employer firms that provide information sector services. The main components of this sector are publishing industries, including software publishing, and both traditional publishing and publishing exclusively on the Internet; the motion picture and sound recording industries; the broadcasting industries, including traditional broadcasting and those broadcasting exclusively over the Internet; the telecommunications industries; the industries known as Internet service providers and Web search portals, data processing industries and the information services industries. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

2004 Service Annual Survey: Truck Transportation, Couriers and Messengers, and Warehousing and Storage Sector (NAICS 48/49) — Data including industry tabulations on general freight trucking, couriers and local messengers, warehousing and storage, size and origin of shipments and commodities handled. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

2004 Service Annual Survey: Health Care and Social Assistance (NAICS 62) — Data on revenues by ambulatory health-care services, hospitals, physicians’ offices, nursing and residential care facilities and social assistance firms. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

2004 Service Annual Survey (NAICS 532, 54, 56, 71, 81) — American pro sports teams and clubs collect billions from spectators. How many billions? Statistical totals are revealed on subjects such as this and more in categories that include travel and business, entertainment and recreation, technical services, product rental and leasing, and other services. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

Consolidated Federal Funds Report for Fiscal Year 2004 (State and County Areas) — Only consolidated source of data on the geographic distribution of federal expenditures, by state, county and subcounty area. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

2004 Annual Survey of Manufactures, Statistics for Industry Groups and Industries — Will manufacturers’ capital expenditures reverse a three-year slide? Is the manufacturing workforce diminishing? This survey detailing manufacturing activity includes employment and payroll, number of production workers and wages, cost of materials, value added by manufacturers, value of shipments, total capital expenditures and other measures of manufacturing. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

2004 Annual Survey of Manufactures, Product Shipments — Light trucks and utility vehicles and gasoline, are typically the most valuable shipments detailed in this survey. It includes other data for manufactured products ranging from airplanes to zippers for the years 2003 and 2004. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week mid-December.)

Facts For Features

Oldest Baby Boomers Turn 60! (Special Edition) — The generation that vowed to stay forever young is coming up on a major milestone. A look at statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas about those who were part of the spike in the birth rate from 1946 to 1964. (Scheduled for release Dec. 12.)

Valentine’s Day — Chocolate or flowers? A look at statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to that special day for lovers on Feb. 14. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-December.)

St. Patrick’s Day and Irish-American Heritage Month — The luck of the Irish might be with you if you utilize this compendium of statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas. The facts pertain to St. Patrick’s Day 2006 and Americans of Irish ancestry. (Tentatively scheduled for release early-January.)

Women’s History Month — From mom to “G.I. Jane,” women play a variety of roles. We celebrate all these roles in March when we honor women with their own commemorative month. This fact sheet provides statistical information on the number of mothers, women in the military and a whole host of other topics relating to women. Data come from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas. (Tentatively scheduled for release early-January.)
