Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2002 Latest edition of the national data book, a perennial government bestseller; first published in 1878. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 26.)

Census Bureau Facts for Features: Valentine's Day — Statistical information from the Census Bureau's demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to Valentine's Day 2003. (Scheduled for release Jan. 31.)

Census Fiscal Year 2004 Budget —Details of the Census Bureau's 2004 budget, part of the government-wide federal budget submitted by the President to Congress. (Scheduled for release Feb. 3.)

Current Population Survey Data Collection — On March 16, Census Bureau field representatives will begin visiting randomly selected households in the Current Population Survey's update of employment data. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 9.)

Census Bureau Facts for Features: Women's History Month — Statistical information from the Census Bureau's demographic and economic subject areas about women, who we celebrate in March. (Similar Facts for Features commemorate other events and holidays throughout the year.) (Scheduled for release Feb. 14.)

The Foreign-Born Population in the United States, March 2002 — Annual report and 60 data tables showing selected characteristics by nativity, citizenship status, year of entry into the United States and region of birth. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 16.)

Educational Attainment in the United States, March 2001 and March 2002—Two packages of 16 tables each on educational trends and attainment levels at the national, state and large metropolitan areas. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 16.)

Supplemental Security Income and Its Non-Institutional Recipients: July 1997 and 1999 — Information on SSI such as who receives benefits, how much they receive and other demographic characteristics. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 23.)

Economic

2001 Annual Survey of Manufactures, Statistics for Industry Groups and Industries — Data on employment and payroll, production workers and wages, cost of materials, value added by manufacturers, value of shipments, total capital expenditures and other measures of manufacturing activity for all manufacturing establishments from 1997 to 2001. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 26.)

2001 Annual Survey of Manufactures, Geographic Area Statistics — State data on the number of employees, production workers, value added by manufacturers, cost of materials, value of shipments and new capital expenditures for the nation's manufacturing establishments from 1997 to 2001. Groups covered include food, apparel, lumber, chemicals, computers and transportation equipment. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Jan. 26.)

Annual Capital Expenditures: 2001 — Capital expenditures by 130 industry categories, including buildings and other structures, machinery and equipment, furniture, computers and vehicles. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Feb. 2.)

Update on the 2002 Economic Census —More than 5 million businesses received economic census forms last month and will report their business activity at more than 23 million business locations. (Scheduled for release Feb. 5.)

A special edition of Profile America, "Black History Month," is in distribution. This series has daily features focusing on distinguished African-Americans.

The Profile America CD for February is in distribution. This series of 60-second features, one for each day of the month, is heard on more than 500 stations. Each feature is keyed to an event whose anniversary or observance is celebrated on the air date. February's installment of Profile America covers subjects such as Chinese New Year, creation of the U.S. Weather Bureau and Valentine's Day.
